We’re not only fans of Latina superstar Becky G‘s music—she’s nominated for both Favorite Female Latin Artist and Favorite Latin Song—but also her beauty brand, Treslúce Beauty, which is bold, playful and high-quality. (The Mexican-American singer knows a thing or two about makeup.) But tonight, we’re talking about hair, and her American Music Awards look. Becky slayed the red carpet in a black mini dress and matching gloves paired with curtain bangs (all the rage right now) and a creative updo. Here’s what we know about her look, according to her hairstylist.
“For Becky G’s look, we decided to go with a messy but sophisticated updo—something very fun and different and a creative use of hair extensions,” says celebrity hairstylist Rikki Gash. The extensions are from Hidden Crown, which is a go-to brand used on many A-listers, and not just on the red carpet.
“We created the look on Becky today using Hidden Crown Hair seamless 20 inch clip in extensions in Deepest Brown,” says Gajda. “We added the three and four clip extensions to the top of her head to add more hair and length to play with for the updo, and we also created a faux curtain bang using the two-clip pieces on an angle in the front. The seamless weft lets me get extra close to her part and hairline, which makes it easy to cover and looks so natural. Obsessed!”
Hidden Crown’s seamless extensions use a silicone adhesive that binds the hair and the clip together, and the top of each extension (Becky’s set comes with five pieces in varying widths and is currently on sale for $224). According to the brand, they are 50-percent thinner at the top of each extension, which allows them to lay flatter on the head for a more natural look.
