Admittedly, I’m not a huge fan of fake eyelashes. In theory, the concept is amazing and kind of a no-brainer for a better makeup look. In reality, I typically find them irritating and itchy (I have enough problems keeping in my contacts all day) and borderline cartoonish-looking when I try to pull them off.
Battington lashes founder and CEO, Sirine Swed, was on a mission to prove me otherwise. “They’re silk. They’re comfortable. They’re going to look great.”

Persuasive, yes; coincidentally, Swed’s line also launched an app last week that uses technology to help her case even more. The Battington lash app lets you “virtually” try on its style of lashes—it’s kind of like a filter—through surprisingly accurate FaceCake technology (they’re also the masterminds behind ShadeScout).

What I found? Some options were way too much for the look I was going for, but the subtle Kennedy style ($26) was just right. After I applied them, they looked just as good as they did in the “test run” of the app. Even better, they were easy to reapply the next morning (Swed says the same pair can last up to 25 applications) and felt completely comfortable and lightweight.
