If you’ve been toying with the idea of a big chop or a bold hair color change, you’re definitely not alone. In recent weeks, it feels like countless celebrities have undergone hair transformations. Natalie Portman, Jennifer Lawrence and Cara Delevingne have all made us do a double-take over their new looks and now Ariana Greenblatt has joined the trend with a “fairy-tail” cut we’re obsessing over.
Greenblatt’s new look was brought to life by celebrity hairstylist Marc Mena, who also counts Madelaine Petsch, Madelyn Cline and Mindy Kaling among his star-studded clients. He shared an Instagram Reel of the 17-year-old actress’s new ‘do, giving fans and followers a look at the medium-length style that’s shorter than we’re used to seeing on her, complete with layers that bring plenty of movement and texture.
As for the “fairy-tale” name, it couldn’t be more fitting. The cut was reportedly inspired by Sarah J. Maas’s fantasy romance series A Court of Thorns and Roses and, as told to Glamour by Mena, it’s “perfect for a princess updo.” (For the uninitiated, the first novel in the series is a partial retelling of Beauty and the Beast.) “It’s midlength and has loads of layers, which is trending,” he added. The duo is apparently calling it a “glow-up haircut”—and if that’s not a reason to book a salon appointment, we don’t know what is.
According to Mena, the “fairy-tail” cut is ideal for “the girls who are tired of long hair” (we’re right there with you, Ariana!). The beauty of this cut, besides how incredible it looks, is its versatility. “You can put it in layers and wear it up or down, and it will give you tons of movement and texture no matter how you’re wearing it that day,” Mena added. And honestly, he doesn’t have to say much more to convince us. Check out the look for yourself below.
