At 40, singer and actress Jessica Simpson looks just as good as she did 20 years ago. In a recent interview with Shape, the star offered an inside look at her anti-aging regimen, and now her forever-young complexion all makes sense, but it didn’t come without some hard work.
“During this pandemic, I’ve gone down a skin-care rabbit hole, and I’ve been using a red-light therapy mask too,” she tells Shape. “I’m obsessed with doing red-light therapy treatments at home. I place the anti-inflammatory device everywhere on my body, including my scalp, stomach, and boobs. I have fewer wrinkles at 40 than I did at 38!”
The Blonde Ambition star also mentions that she uses Eucrisa, a topical ointment for eczema. Simpson, who is a spokesperson for the brand, says, “I’ve dealt with eczema since I was a kid. But after having my daughter Birdie, I had such bad flare-ups that I wouldn’t even show the pictures of me holding her to my friends.”
Simpson admits that, while the pandemic has taken a toll on her mental health, self-care has gotten her through. When she doesn’t have skin-care or wrinkle-reducing tools at her side to offer a deep breath, “I take it one day and one moment at a time…There’s power in knowing I made it through.”
Simpson also credits journaling for her stress relief. “I started journaling after I wrote my book. It gets my thoughts out and lets me face them on paper,” she tells Shape. “I know I can’t carry the weight of the world and all those thoughts all the time. After a busy day of taking care of everyone, this clears my mind so I can have a restful night of sleep.”
