It’s 2022, which means stigmas surround cosmetic surgery should be long gone by now, but it’s still somewhat surprising when an A-list celebrity shares what work they’ve had done. For Amy Schumer, the comedienne and actress known for her self-deprecating take on just about everything, but largely surrounding her size, undergoing liposuction was surprising for her, too.
“I feel good. Finally. It’s been a journey thanks for helping me get my strength back @seckinmd (endo) @jordanternermd (lipo),” she wrote in an Instagram post about her procedure. Citing her endometriosis as a catalyst for her treatment, Schumer added that it was her history with the often-painful disorder that caused her to seek the aesthetic treatment. “[I] never thought I would do anything,” she wrote. “But talk to me after your uterus doesn’t contract for 2.5 years and you turn 40.”
Last September, Schumer shared with fans that she had to have her uterus and appendix removed due to her endometriosis. “It’s the morning after my surgery for endometriosis. My uterus is out,” she said in an Instagram video. “The doctor found 30 spots of endometriosis. He removed my appendix because the endometriosis had attacked it. There was a lot of blood in my uterus.”
This isn’t the first time Schumer has been open with fans about her cosmetic treatments, last year she chronicled a CoolSculpting fat freezing treatment underneath her chin and recently shared the experience of having facial fillers dissolved. “I tried getting fillers. Turns out I was already full,” she shared.
As for her newfound strength, she’s not just crediting these procedures for helping her through this challenging time, she’s also thanking her acupuncturist and the friends who’ve helped her along the way. “@paulvincent22, Vickie Lee (acupuncture), my girl Nicole from the tox my friends and fam. Let’s go!,” wrote the I Feel Pretty star in her post.
