Having undergone a slew of procedures, from IVF to a hysterectomy to liposuction, Amy Schumer has been through a lot over the past year. While it has definitely been hard—we’ve been following her health updates closely on social media—she has come out on the other side with a fresh perspective and some words of wisdom.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Schumer says her most recent struggles have been surrounding endometriosis and an unfortunately unsuccessful round of IVF for a second baby. But, to make both herself and her fans feel better about their personal health climate, the star takes to Instagram to share all the nitty-gritty parts of life. Her activity on Instagram was especially prominent when she underwent liposuction.
“It’s not about needing to be slamming, because I’ve never been famous for being hot, but I’d reached a place where I was tired of looking at myself in the mirror,” she says about her procedure. Looking back on it now, she’s reached a confident 170 pounds and she has absolutely no regrets.
In fact, she feels so good, she’s going on tour later in the year, and the Trainwreck star is continuing forward with the share-all mindset. Admitting she has no idea what to expect in terms of crowd size for her upcoming shows, she says that smaller venues does not equate to less interest in her comedy. “I was saying what I really think, which is freeing,” says Schumer. “And also, I came into this business with enough awareness to know that it was going to be rocky.”
