In a recent interview with Today, the infamous Al Roker shares two tricks he used to shed a solid 45 pounds in the last few months.
Thanking light exercise and a successful low-carb diet, he says, “Exercise, and not extreme exercise—we’re doing that 30-day walking challenge—that improves, I think, your mental health…Combined with a low-carb diet, I’ve lost about 45 pounds in the last several months. I do about 100 grams of carbs a day and I walk.”
As shown on his Instagram page, Roker is also tapping a personal trainer to help him get fit. Some exercises they do together: donkey kicks, glute bridges, fire hydrants and lunges. Roker says that after his morning workout, he heads out for his walks in the afternoon through Central Park or along the West Side Highway in Manhattan.
According to People, the weatherman underwent gastric bypass surgery in 2001, as he was struggling to lose weight at a solid 340 pounds. After losing 100 pounds post-surgery and now another 45, his hard work has definitely paid off.
