What’s your morning routine like?
I wake up between 5 and 5:30 a.m. and feed my cats and scoop the liter box. I then feed my bird and clean his cage. After, I hop in the shower and since my hair is oily I have to wash it everyday otherwise, it sticks to my head. After the shower, I apply our amazing Revitalizing Scalp Treatment and blow-dry my roots for only five minutes. I then apply my Restørsea skin care regimen. Since I’m always trying new product formulations, I like to test everything on myself first. When it’s ready for primetime, only then do I let others try it. Then I put on my makeup. Since I’m a minimalist, I just fill in my brows and apply eyeliner and mascara.
For breakfast, I usually make myself a smoothie. This is my favorite recipe: 2 cups of coarsely chopped kale, 1 cup of frozen blueberries, ½ cup of water, ½ cup of almond milk and a banana. I feel energized after I drink it. It takes me between 30 to 45 minutes to get out the door, depending on whether I stop and ready the New York Times on my Kindle.
Which products do you use everyday while getting ready?
I wash my face in the shower with Restørsea Reviving Cleanser and use Aveeno Body Wash. Even though my hair is oily, it’s dehydrated so I need use a shampoo and conditioner that are very lightweight, but also very hydrating. Kérastase Cristalliste shampoo and conditioner work very well on my hair. When I get out of the shower, I slather Retexturizing Body Butter all over my body. On my face, I apply Rejuvenating Day Cream and Revitalizing Eye Cream and for my hair, Conair makes a detangling brush that I live for! It takes me about five minutes to fill in my brows and put on eyeliner and mascara. I’ve known Trish McEvoy since 1991 (or as I always say when her brush handles were red wood) so only use her makeup products.
Describe a typical day at work.
Our company is very young. We started in January 2012 and launched our first two products at Bergdorf Goodman in October 2012. So there is no typical day. In 2012, most days were focused on PR/marketing. In 2013, it was for fund raising/investor relations. I eat between 12:30 and 1 p.m. In the office we decided as a whole that we needed to eat healthy so now, our lunch consists of either cold pressed juices delivered fresh daily or a smoothie or salad from Pret a Manger.
What do you do after work?
I work a lot, but when I’m not traveling, I get home at 9 p.m. After work, I generally go home, feed the cats, and go to my home office to work. I love this company, and I’m grateful that I have my shot. When someone gives you your shot, you run with it as fast as you can. I eat dinner between 9 and 10 p.m. and since I it’s so late, I try to eat light. I’ll usually have a smoothie or a salad, but sometimes I’ll break down and order in a pepperoni pizza. I try to get to bed between 12 to 1 a.m.
Any new products you’re excited about?
I think that our Revitalizing Scalp Treatment is going to revolutionize the way women view their aging hair. There are a lot of great aging products out there for skin, but there is nothing to help improve the aging of hair. We are born with 100,000 hair follicles. By the time we are 70 years old, we lose 30,000 hair follicles due to the fact that over time, the hair follicle becomes clogged with dirt, sebum and dead skin.
Once it becomes completely clogged, it can no longer properly function. Therefore, the strand of hair prematurely releases from the follicle and the follicle gradually dies. Our scalp treatment contains our proprietary enzyme, Aquabeautine XL and this enzyme, when applied directly to the scalp, keeps the follicles open, clean and healthy because it only dissolves the dead skin in and around the follicle. As a result, hair is able to complete its full growth cycle. Women who have used our treatment report less hair shedding and thicker, longer looking hair.
