Dior’s Backstage makeup collection is not launching until June 15, but it secretly made its debut last month in Windsor. That’s right, Meghan Markle’s wedding day foundation of choice—which we all know showed off her natural freckles—was none other than the new Backstage Face & Body Foundation ($40) from the French brand. According to Dior Beauty’s creative and image director of makeup Peter Philips, Daniel Martin used the line’s hero product on the Duchess of Sussex for her big day, making this collection royal-approved.

Philips also notes that the foundation was put to the test with extreme heat (“40 degrees Celsius”) and torrential rain during the Dior 2019 Cruise Show and “still resisted.” He dubbed the standout product “runway proof,” and we’re slightly obsessed with the versatile foundation. The liquid formula is ultra lightweight, waterproof and boasts a gorgeous, luminous finish. It’s long-wear and versatile—a little bit can go a long way for daily use, but it’s easily layered when you need full coverage. Plus, you can use it from head to toe to camouflage any imperfections. Either way, the finish is radiant and natural.

The best part is the extensive 40-shade range across six undertone variations (neutral, warm, cool, cool rosy, peach, and warm peach) and reasonable price point. It may have been inspired by the makeup used on models backstage at fashion shows, but Philips made sure to create a line that was easy to use for the average woman. In addition to the Face & Body Foundation, the Backstage collection includes a Glow Face Palette ($45), a Contour Palette ($45), a Lip Palette ($49), two eye palettes (in warm neutral and cool neutrals), and two brow palettes, in addition to a selection of essential brushes to get the job done. We have a feeling the Backstage collection is about to become wildly popular, so head to Dior.com and Sephora.com on June 15 to get your hands on it.
