Scroll through Instagram and you’re bound to see this bottle of body lotion popping up on several celebrity’s feeds. But it’s not just any body lotion; it’s Lord Jones High CBD Body Lotion, and it’s infused with cannabis.

So what makes this $50 bottle of velvety lotion so coveted? I spoke to Cindy Capobianco, founder Lord Jones, to get the inside scoop.

Yes it moisturizes dry skin just like every other body lotion, but the secret behind this one is its ability to minimize pain (and according to some users, alleviate it). Capobianco says CBD acts as an analgesic and an anti-inflammatory, so it not only controls pain but also reduces inflammation, and you can’t actually get high from using it. “Our lotion is formulated with a natural cooling indicator that begins the process of recovery on contact, as it increases blood circulation to the affected area. From there, our high-absorption formula delivers CBD to inflamed and sore joints and muscles. CBD also aids in the healing of skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, sunburn and insect bites. Whether it is soreness from exercise or chronic pain from arthritis, CBD is an effective, natural plant-based remedy and safe to use every day.”
In addition to the 2 milligrams of CBD in each pump, the lotion also contains shea butter and other proprietary emollients, which Capobianco says make it “deeply penetrating, soothing, rich and luxurious.” The scent isn’t medicinal, but rather a mix of mint, citrus and hemp; however, there’s also a fragrance-free option.
