Despite my status as a beauty editor and privileged access to the latest and greatest in beauty products, I can be somewhat of a creature of habit with my routine, especially when it comes to makeup. While I love to experiment with graphic eye looks and a bright lip for a night out, my day-to-day makeup routine hasn’t changed much since I was a teen. As of late, though, new trends revolutionizing the blush industry have made me want to try something new, namely in the world of red blush.
As we approach the holidays, now seems like the perfect time to try my hand at red blush. But finding a formula that blends well and doesn’t overbear my complexion has been a roadblock in my blush journey. When I’m in beauty doubt, I turn to the classics—the brands that beauty lovers and celebrities alike can’t get enough of—and when it comes to trusted makeup formulas, Charlotte Tilbury takes the top spot. So, it’s no surprise that just one application of the brand’s Matte Beauty Blush Wand ($42) in Dream Pop Cherry singlehandedly turned me into a red blush girl.
Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Beauty Blush Wand: Tested + Reviewed
With celebrity fans like Kate Moss, Sarah Jessica Parker, Amal Clooney, Bella Hadid and more, it’s safe to say that Charlotte Tilbury is the resident it-girl beauty brand. I knew I was in good hands turning to the brand’s tried-and-true formulas to jump-start my red blush era. The Dream Pop Cherry shade is the perfect cherry red, and its formula is packed with skin-loving and complexion-perfecting ingredients, making it more than your run-of-the-mill blush. Infused with light-reflecting pigments, poreless polymers and flawless film formers, Tilbury’s Matte Beauty Blush Wand boasts a long-lasting, smooth, airbrushed finish in addition to its high-performing pigment.
If the pictures don’t speak for themselves, let the numbers do the talking. In clinical studies, 97 percent of Matte Beauty Blush Wand users agreed that the product gave a “fresh glow of color,” 92 percent said it “lifts the look of your complexion,” 93 percent said it “glides on easily,” and 81 percent said it “lasts all day.” I can attest—the product is more than just a blush, it truly brightens and lifts the whole face, and is one of the few blushes I’ve tried that actually lasts all day. My biggest fear with red blush was that it would look too stark. I was shocked at how blendable this formula was, even with its deep pigment. All of these factors contributed to me officially entering my red blush era.
