Kristin Cavallari is officially expanding her popular jewelry, home, and beauty product line, Uncommon James, with the launch of her debut perfume, Hard Feelings—available now. The Let’s Be Honest podcast host took to Instagram to share her excitement, captioning a grid photo with, “Our first fragrance is officially out,” and gushing about how excited she is for everyone to fall in love with it.
According to the former reality star, the unisex fragrance has been a long time in the making. “When we started it, I didn’t realize it was going to take that long,” Cavallari said of the fragrance’s timeline in an exclusive interview with WWD. Per their conversation, the team started working on it two years ago, and now that this new chapter is here, she’s eager to continue creating. “When I launched Uncommon James [in 2017], that changed the landscape for me. Now that this is my company, instead of me working with another company, I’m way more incentivized to do more things.”
“It has a really nice balance between masculine and feminine, and that’s sort of everything I’m drawn to in life,” Cavallari added about the fragrance. “I don’t like anything too overly sweet or obviously too hard.” The fragrance notes fitting her vision include a blend of florals and woody notes, such as rose and tobacco, and sandalwood and bergamot.
Why the name? “No other name could represent the perfume like Hard Feelings could,” Cavallari told the outlet. “And Hard Feelings kind of evokes different emotions within people and makes you think of some of your own memories and things that you’ve been through. And I think with a perfume, that’s kind of what you want, is when someone smells it and hears the name, that it kind of makes them feel a certain way.”
As for the formulation, WWD reports that it’s clean, EWG-Verified, Leaping Bunny certified, vegan, and cruelty-free, all elements that fans were happy to see. In the comments section of the aforementioned Instagram post, fans appear excited about what’s to come. One person wrote, “Love that it will be clean and have both feminine and masculine energy.” Actress Rachel Bilson commented, simply, “Need.” (We, too, need it.)
Hard Feelings costs $72 for a 50-ml bottle and is available on the brand’s website as well as in all four brick-and-mortar locations.
