Jason Kelce is on a weight loss journey. In a newly published interview with GQ, the former Philadelphia Eagles player shared that he’s already lost 20 pounds but is hoping to shed even more.

“As far as the weight is concerned, I weighed 295 for the majority of my NFL career, and I look forward to losing some of those pounds,” he told the outlet. “I don’t want to get too small. I think a lot of guys, especially offensive linemen, they lose too much weight, and then they look like bobbleheads because their neck gets so small, but their head stays the same size.

So for me, I feel like for some reason, 250 to 260 feels like I’ll be still big and be happy with the way I look without having a six-pack. But I’ll still be able to have that stature a little bit. Right now, I’m about 277. I’m almost 20 pounds down right now. It’s hard to imagine another nearly 20 pounds coming off, being honest with you. But my back already feels better. My knees already feel better. So another 20 pounds hopefully will make that much more adept at playing with my children.”

This isn’t the first time he’s discussed his weight loss goals. On a March episode of his podcast, New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother Travis Kelce, he mentioned that he doesn’t plan to dramatically restrict his diet but instead aims to be more mindful of what he consumes.

“There’s different ways to do this,” Jason said during the episode. “I personally don’t subscribe to doing extreme diets like going all the way vegan or all the way carnivore or keto. F— no I’m not doing that,” he explained. “I downloaded MyFitnessPal and just started tracking calories. I feel like as long as I maintain my protein intake—so I keep my muscle—and just limit the calories, you’ll start to lose weight. So that’s the plan.”

One thing he definitely won’t be doing to lose weight is running. On his podcast, he made it clear he has no plans to run a marathon like Pittsburgh Steelers legend Alan Faneca. In February, he participated in the 16th Annual Mike’s Seafood 5K Run/Walk for Autism in New Jersey and critiqued his performance on social media.

Kelce retweeted a post from Fox Sports reporting that he ran the race, writing, “‘Ran’ is a generous verb for what occurred. But we had a blast.”
