For the longest time, I and many others have been doing everything we can do make our brows appear fuller. Whether it’s brow serums, pencils or even beard dye, the pursuit of thick, full brows is a tumultuous one. For many of us, the years of catch up and TLC for our brows have been a direct result of years of over-plucking or over-waxing to fit in with the trends of the ’90s and early 2000s.
While many of us look back on our old selfies with razor-thin brows and cringe, vowing to never let them see the light of day, Drew Barrymore took a different approach, embracing the old trend and posting an iconic throwback picture showing off her tweezed brows and quintessential ’90s makeup look.
Drew Barrymore’s 90s Glam and Paper-Thin Brows
Yesterday, Barrymore posted a throwback selfie on Instagram—dated 1994 as seen in the lower right-hand corner—but the most eye-catching part of the photo is what is right above Drew’s eyes: her barely there brows. Paired with her bleached-blonde pixie cut, dark burgundy lip and beaded necklace, the image screams 1994.
If we can count on any celebrity to never take themselves too seriously and to always make us feel seen and heard, it’s Drew. As she wrote in the caption for the picture, “My tweezers and I were best friends at this time in my life,” emphasizing the focal point of the picture which are her exceptionally thin and light brows. Honestly, all we’re wondering is what tweezer she was using for that precise of a ‘do! (See the image here.)
