The 2024 SAG Awards dark blue carpet brought us no shortage of iconic looks. From the Lady in Red vibes from SAG AFTRA’s national president, Fran Drescher, to the artistic and creative show-stoppers, like Ali Wong’s 3D gown, the night was packed with trend-setting colors and all the makeup our hearts could desire. And newsflash: the Chanel lipstick lighting up the 2024 SAG Awards isn’t just any lip color. The iconic 31 Le Rouge is the brand’s most iconic lipstick, named after the birthplace of Chanel: 31 rue Cambon, and brings major satin shine, pigment and lip care all together. Ayo Edebiri
For The Bear star Ayo Edebiri, celebrity makeup artist Tasha Reiko Brown was inspired by the structural look of her gown. “I was inspired by the beautiful pattern of Ayo’s sculptural dress,” Brown says. “I wanted to keep her beauty look clean, with sculpted, satin skin, a heavy lash, and a statement lip.”
“To create Ayo’s stained lip look, with a bit of shine, I applied CHANEL 31 Le Rouge Satin Lipstick in Rouge 2.55 ($195) on a drier lip, in layers, directly from the bullet,” Brown says. “Then, I blotted this with a tissue and re-applied CHANEL 31 Le Rouge Satin Lipstick in Rouge 2.55 repeatedly. To complete the look, I added a high shine finish by applying CHANEL Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick in Transparent ($48).”
Issa Rae
Nominated for her work in American Fiction and Barbie!, Issa Rae’s 2024 SAG Awards look brought big curls back to the red carpet. Celebrity makeup artist Joanna Simkin says that the khaki-colored, slim-fitted gown Rae wore was what prompted the makeup look. “Issa’s dress inspired me to create a hydrated, glowing, mermaid-like look,” Simkin says. “I prepped Issa’s skin with CHANEL Sublimage L’Essence Fondamentale Yeux The Radiance-Renewing Eye Serum ($325), CHANEL Sublimage La Crème Texture Universelle Ultimate Cream ($455), and CHANEL Sublimage Le Soin Perfecteur Ultimate Radiance-Enhancing Priming Moisturizer ($280) for intense hydration.

Greta Lee
Wearing a pale mint gown by The Row, Greta Lee stunned on the carpet for the 30th annual SAG Awards. Celebrity makeup artist, Yasmin Istanbouli, says that look helped create the feel for the makeup. “I was inspired to create a super clean, elegant, and fresh makeup look,” Istanbouli says. “For Greta’s look, I really focused on skin prep and using the right skincare products for a flawless makeup application. I applied CHANEL Sublimage La Crème Texture Universelle Ultimate Cream ($455) and CHANEL Sublimage L’Essence Fondamentale Yeux The Radiance-Renewing Eye Serum ($325) to achieve this. Bel Powley
Nominated for her role in A Small Light, Powley’s black and white gown certainly turned heads. Her makeup artist, Celia Burton built her look around the most recent Chanel show. “For Bel’s look, I was inspired by the most recent CHANEL Haute-Couture Show beauty look, which featured a rich berry stain on the lips, as well as the CHANEL Fall ’22 Couture Show beauty look, which featured uplifted definition on the eye,” Burton says. “To create the berry-stained lips, I applied CHANEL 31 Le Rouge Satin Lipstick in Rouge Coromandel ($195) all over the lips and then blotted this with a tissue. I then dusted the lips with translucent powder, re-applied CHANEL 31 Le Rouge Satin Lipstick in Rouge Coromandel, and then blotted once more.
To create a blurred, soft effect, I used a cotton bud to soften the edges of the lips. This also makes the lip color last longer and creates a diffused, watercolor wash of color.”
