Reuniting some of the most influential supermodels in fashion and beauty history, Victoria’s Secret has launched The Icon Collection and hinted at a return of the famous fashion show after a 4-year hiatus. Gisele Bündchen, Naomi Campbell, Adriana Lima and Candice Swanepoel all return for the new campaign, which marks a huge turning point in Victoria’s Secret rebrand.
The Victoria Secret Fashion show ended in 2018, retiring the entire concept of the iconic VS Angels in a massive reconstruction of the brand. Adrianna Lima, who retired following 2018 show, explains that she never expected to return to Victoria’s Secret.
“At the time, I thought that was my last walk for Victoria’s Secret,” Lima tells Fashionista. “It was very emotional day—not only day, a year, because I knew it was coming. I’ve always been very connected to and always loved the brand. To me, it was beyond a work relationship: I felt like they were part of my family and my life.”
But now with the launch of their new ambassador initiative, VS Collective, Victoria’s Secret is ready to step back into the spotlight. This time, without the wings.
The Icon Collection is the first huge launch Victoria’s Secret has made post-rebrand, and it called for a lot of iconic women to participate.
“I was thrilled,” Lima says. “And I did not think twice.”
Speaking with Vogue, supermodel Naomi Campbell explains she was excited to reunite with Gisele and work with the other models. “They are all icons, and all have great bodies of work,” says of her fellow models. “It was great to be again with Gisele and work alongside her.”
And of Victoria’s Secret’s rebrand, Campbell thinks they’re doing exactly what’s necessary. “I feel that what they’re listening to what the young people around the world want,” she explains.
These superstar models aren’t the only thing returning to Victoria’s Secret. A re-imagining of their iconic fashion show is also in the works, which will debut as a feature length film on Amazon Prime September 26th.
