I don’t consider myself someone who is too easily influenced. As a beauty editor, I come across dozens of products on the daily, so it’s hard to catch my eye let alone convince me to get my hands on the product myself. Surprisingly enough, I also consider my day-to-day makeup routine to be pretty pared back, so I don’t find myself branching out with products too often.

For me, my everyday makeup consists of brow gel, mascara, concealer and, of course, blush. Even when I’m running on four hours of sleep, a good blush can make me look and feel awake and prepared for the day. I decided years ago that powder blush wasn’t my thing, and have been an avid liquid blush user for quite some time. While my commitment to liquid blush has been unwavering, when I saw Milk’s Cooling Water Jelly Tints ($24) take over social media, I knew I had to give the new product genre a try, and I was more than pleasantly surprised.

Milk Cooling Water Jelly Tints: What They Are and How They Work

When I first started seeing Milk’s jelly tints on TikTok, I was immediately drawn in by the gelatinous texture. When you twist up the jelly stick, it moves and behaves the same way a cup of jello would (yes, it is hard not to take a bite), which was something I’d never seen in a blush product before. Because of the jelly texture, I expected the pigment to be lackluster, but was shocked by how concentrated all four shades (Splash, Burst, Chill and Spritz) are.

Packed with vegan collagen, aloe and seawater, Milk’s jelly tints are long-lasting, hydrating and, yes, cooling. Upon application, there is a slight cooling sensation, which is perfect for waking up the skin first thing in the morning. My favorite part of the product, aside from their shocking pigment, is how they genuinely last all day. In the past, I’ve felt that even my favorite blushes can’t withstand a busy day of running around New York City. But, every shade of Milk’s Cooling Water Jelly Tints has lasted me from the subway to events to the gym and back. When I come home at the end of the day, I can still see the pigment clearly, which is something I’ve never experienced before.

Overall, the jelly tints were a win for me—their long-lasting, cooling formula and bright, flirty shades are perfect summer. My one qualm with the product, however, is that they can be hard to blend, as the stain dries down pretty quickly. At first, I applied the stick directly onto my skin and struggled a bit to buff it out, but after reading that the brand recommends applying the product to a brush for a more diffused look, my issues dissipated.
